About

My name is James McCaughley and I am a filmmaker.

Well, technically the above statement is true. My name is James and I have made films. But what is it that makes you who you say you are? Recognition, that’s what. The purpose of this blog, put simply, is to document the next chapter of my life. I will explore the different paths I want to pursue in the media world, learning new techniques and taking advantage of new experiences (hopefully gaining a bit of recognition as a filmmaker along the way).

At present I have just finished my final year at Coventry University, achieving a first level degree in Media Production. Over the course’s three year duration I have explored different media platforms such as Film, Radio, Television, and Print. When working in these platforms, I have developed key technical and practical skills which have helped me become better at my craft.

My goal in life is plain and simple; I want to make a difference. I’ve had a passion for making films ever since I can remember. As a boy, I used to take my mum’s compact camera and shoot stop-motion animations with a couple of action figures in the back room (I’ve actually managed to find one and have posted it below!) and now I continue to make videos – just on a slightly larger scale.

Working in the film industry has always been my dream. I am a very creative person. I love making things from all different types of mediums. I write, paint, play music, and make films. All of these things are very important to me but I think at the heart of it all, the thing I love most is working hard at making something and seeing it come to life in front of you. All I want is the chance to tell stories and share them.

I want to make a difference. I want to make films.
